Biography: Prof. M. Hinterstein holds the Emmy Noether-Group leader in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Institute of Applied Materials at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and he is also a Adjunct Senior Lecturer in School of Materials Science and Engineering at University of New South Wales (Sydney, AU). He received his Doctoral degree from Technische Universität Darmstadt Materials Science during 2006-2010 and he researched at Technische Universität Dresden Institut für Werkstoffwissenschaft as Postdoc from 2010 to 2013. He received Discovery Early Career Researcher Award, Young Scientist Award and Max-von-Laue-Price of the German Crystallographic Society. He is a member of the German Crystallographic Society since 2009. Prof. M. Hinterstein serves as series editor for Smart Materials of IOP publishing group and referee for international peer reviewed scientific journals such as Physical Review Letters, Journal of Applied Crystallography, Journal of Applied Physics, Acta Crystallographica, Advanced Electronic Materials, Journal of the American Ceramic Society. He is interested in functional electroceramics, with focus on the ‘positive temperature coefficient of resistance’ (PTCR) Effect, as well as sensor, actuator and electrocaloric applications. And he is also dedicated to develop ‘In situ Sample Environments’ for the development of sample environments for the investigation of functional materials under real operating conditions, powder diffraction on functional materials and some other multiscale characterisation technologies of functional electroceramics.
