　　Weiler教授從事地外樣品稀有氣體同位素研究已經(jīng)有三十多年，1994年任Principal Investigator of NASA's lunar sample program，2006年至今任《Meteoritics & Planetary Science》編委會主席，參加Genesis和Itokawa空間探測項(xiàng)目并負(fù)責(zé)其樣品的分配和稀有氣體測量。因?yàn)閃eiler教授對稀有氣體同位素研究的重要貢獻(xiàn)，2002年國際天文及隕石學(xué)會將一顆小行星命名為Rainerwieler。
　　The introduction of Professor Rainer: The world’s leading scientist of the field of noble gas in extraterrestrial material, the chairman of the board of “Meteoritics & Planetary Science”. In 2002, an asteroid was named as Rainerwieler by the international society of astronomy and meteoritics because of the contribution of Rainer to the field of noble gases isotopes.
